Cultural Programme

The Cultural Programme comprises learning journeys to various museums and sites and sharing sessions.

Below are the themes of the learning journeys:
(A) Technology-Enabled Learning Programmes
(B) Museum-School Partnership Programmes (Art)
(C) Accessibility Programmes for Children
(D) Gamification in Museum-learning
(E) Cohort Level Museum-based Learning Programmes (Culture and Heritage) 

**Note** 
1. You can select only one venue per day.
2. Please note that the time varies for each venue.
3. There are limited slots for each venue and are available on a first come, first served basis.
4. At least 8 participants are required for each Learning Journey to proceed. In the event that this minimum requirement is not met, you may be reassigned to other Learning Journeys.

(A) Technology-Enabled Learning Programmes

FutureWorld – Learning through Interaction and Technology-enabled Exhibitions
Venue: ArtScience Museum
Time: 10.30am – 12.30pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, Bayfront Station (Exit D). Immerse yourself in Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition and explore the multidisciplinary intersections embedded in the digital artworks through a specially curated guided tour. There will also be an experiential technology-based art workshop designed for participants of all ages and a sharing session organised for meaningful exchange amongst like-minded museum professionals and educators

(B) Museum-School Partnership Programmes (Art)
Enriching Students’ Learning in the Visual Arts with Museum Visits
Venue: Singapore Art Museum
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: 2-way transportation will be provided to/from Asian Civilisations Museum. Bus transport will depart from ACM at 9.00am and depart from Singapore Art Museum at 12.15pm.
 

With the aims to develop visual literacy and nurture the love for art among school-age children and youths, the Singapore Art Museum and the National Gallery Singapore, in partnership with the Singapore Teachers Academy for the aRts (STAR) designed a teacher-training toolkit to complement art learning in schools with museums for students in Singapore, drawing on the art and content presented in the museums.

This workshop will provide participants an overview of museum learning programmes and an experience of the facilitation methods at the National Gallery Singapore and the Singapore Art Museum. Each participant will receive an exclusive set of teaching resource kits and other museum learning resources at the end of the workshop.

Outreach Programmes at STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery
Venue: STPI – Creative Workshop and Gallery
Time: 10.00am – 12.30pm

The STPI Creative Workshop and Gallery is a not-for-profit organisation committed to promoting artistic experimentation in the mediums of print and paper and has become one of the most cutting-edge destinations for contemporary art in Asia. Through its artist collaborations, artworks, exhibitions and public programmes, STPI engages both international and local art communities, with the aim of inspiring and developing an appreciation of print and paper art practice. In this session, participants will gain an insight in STPI’s exceptional printmaking facilities and workshop, and how it engages students through its range of educational resources. This session also includes a guided tour of Lee Bul: Prints.

(C) Accessibility Programmes for Children

Designing Programmes for Children to Learn Through Play
Venue: Children’s Museum Singapore
Time: 9.00am – 11.00am
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, a 10-minute walk from City Hall Station (Exit B) or Clarke Quay Station (Exit E) or Bras Basah Station (Exit D or E). 

The Children’s Museum Singapore is the first museum in Singapore dedicated to children 12 years and below. The Museum believes in using play to encourage wonder and joyful learning for children to engage with Singapore and the world. In this 2-hour session, participants will be introduced to the programmes and partnership initiatives of the museum and get to network with fellow museum educators. All participants will also be given a complimentary activity booklet to explore the interactive and immersive museum space through a scavenger hunt.

Fostering Inclusion: Illuminating Pathways at Science Centre Singapore
Venue: Science Centre Singapore
Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Getting There: 2-way transportation will be provided to/from Asian Civilisations Museum. Bus transport will depart from ACM at 9.15am and depart from Science Centre Singapore at 1.15pm.

Learn about the transformative inclusion initiatives at Science Centre Singapore in this insightful sharing session – from tailoring programmes and resources for people with special needs, forging partnerships with SPED institutions for work experience programmes, to collaborating with various communities and the focal agency to enhance accessibility and enrich the learning environment. Join us to discover a journey of empowerment, as we illuminate the paths towards a more inclusive Science Centre for all.

This session includes a tour of KidsSTOP™ and the Dialogue with Time exhibition, to explore inclusive practices extended to spaces dedicated to children and seniors respectively. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage and inspire change.

(E) Cohort Level Museum-based Learning Programmes (Culture and Heritage)

Asian Adventures
Venue: Asian Civilisations Museum
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: Accessible by MRT, a 5-minute walk from Raffles Place MRT Station (Exit H).

Curious about what life in Southeast Asia was like in the past? Meet a mythical Makara who will bring you back to the past to meet some interesting people in Southeast Asia. Travel to different time periods in Southeast Asia to explore what trade was like and the way of life in the region.

You will explore the galleries with Museum Educators to understand the significance of maritime trade in the region and its influence on the diversity of cultures found in Southeast Asia today. Experience learner-centric, inquiry and experiential learning approaches to make sense of new knowledge by asking critical questions and making connections to prior knowledge. Share your discoveries together with fellow participants to facilitate deep learning and uncover the historical and cultural ties that countries in Southeast Asia have. 

Each participant will also receive a complimentary Musuem-based Learning activity booklet as you explore the galleries and artefacts with our Museum Educators.

Culture Archives
Venue: Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, Chinatown Station (Exit A)

Have you wondered how the Chinese community contributed to the development of Singapore?

Follow our journalists as they meet various people in Kreta Ayer who would share stories about the diverse Chinese community in Singapore and how they have contributed to Singapore’s development.

In small groups facilitated by Museum Educators, grounded on learner-centric, inquiry and experiential learning approaches, deepen your understanding of the Chinese community in Singapore through the exploration of the Kreta Ayer precinct.

Thereafter, you will visit Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery and learn more on the Intangible Cultural Heritage of five Chinese cultural arts. Through hands-on activities, objects and images, participants will be guided to recognise the contributions made by the Chinese community in the development of Singapore, and understand the importance of knowing Singapore’s history and multicultural heritage.

Each participant will also receive a complimentary Musuem-based Learning activity booklet as you explore the gallery and precinct area with our Museum Educators.
