Cultural Programme

The Cultural Programme comprises learning journeys to various museums and sites and sharing sessions.

Below are the themes of the learning journeys:
(A) Technology-Enabled Learning Programmes
(B) Museum-School Partnership Programmes (Art)
(C) Accessibility Programmes for Children
(D) Gamification in Museum-learning
(E) Cohort Level Museum-based Learning Programmes (Culture and Heritage)

**Note**
1. You can select only one venue per day.
2. Please note that the time varies for each venue.
3. There are limited slots for each venue and are available on a first come, first served basis.
4. At least 8 participants are required for each Learning Journey to proceed. In the event that this minimum requirement is not met, you may be reassigned to other Learning Journeys.

(A) Technology-Enabled Learning Programmes

FutureWorld – Learning through Interaction and Technology-enabled Exhibitions
Venue:
ArtScience Museum
Time: 3.00pm – 5.00pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, Bayfront Station (Exit D).
 

Immerse yourself in Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition and explore the multidisciplinary intersections embedded in the digital artworks through a specially curated guided tour. There will also be an experiential technology-based art workshop designed for participants of all ages and a sharing session organised for meaningful exchange amongst like-minded museum professionals and educators.

(B) Museum-School Partnership Programmes (Art)

Enriching Students’ Learning in the Visual Arts with Museum Visits
Venue: National Gallery Singapore
Time: 2:30pm – 5:00pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, City Hall Station (Exit B).

With the aims to develop visual literacy and nurture the love for art among school-age children and youths, the National Gallery Singapore, in partnership with the Singapore Teachers Academy for the aRts (STAR) designed a teacher-training toolkit to complement art learning in schools with museums for students in Singapore, drawing on the art and content presented in the museums.

This workshop will provide participants an overview of museum learning programmes and an experience of the facilitation methods at the National Gallery Singapore. Each participant will receive an exclusive set of teaching resource kits and other museum learning resources at the end of the workshop.

(D) Gamification in Museum-learning

Learning through Games & Immersive Experiences at Singapore Discovery Centre 
Venue:
Singapore Discovery Centre (SDC)
Time: 2.00pm – 5.00pm
Getting There: 2-way transportation will be provided to/from Asian Civilisations Museum. Bus transport will depart from ACM at 1.15pm and depart from SDC at 5.00pm.

Singapore Discovery Centre provides an immersive and experiential environment for visitors to learn more about the social history and developments of Singapore. As a centre dedicated to engaging schools, museum educators are committed to designing meaningful school partnerships such as customised tours, gamification programmes, and student-led projects to enhance leadership development and project management skills.

(E) Cohort Level Museum-based Learning Programmes (Culture and Heritage)

Artefactually Speaking
Venue:
National Museum of Singapore
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, Dhoby Ghaut Station (Exit A) or Bras Basah Station (Exit B or C) or City Hall Station (Exit A).

Want to find out about the museum’s stories, and what life in Singapore was like in the past? Curious to hear the stories of how people in the past formed connections with the community and places they lived in?

Through learner-centric, inquiry and experiential learning approaches, get a glimpse into the lives of various communities living in Singapore in the past, and deepen your appreciation of cultural diversity in Singapore, and develop a sense of belonging and connections to Singapore through the stories shared. Discuss and draw links between your discoveries to uncover the larger narratives in history. 

Each participant will also receive a complimentary Musuem-based Learning activity booklet as you explore the galleries and artefacts with our Museum Educators.

Tales of the Emporium
Venue: Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: 1-way transportation will be provided from Asian Civilisations Museum. Bus transport will depart from ACM at 9.00am.

Have you wondered how the Malay community contributed to the development of Singapore? Follow our residents of Geylang Serai as they share stories about the diverse Malay community in Singapore and how they have contributed to Singapore. 

In small groups facilitated by Museum Educators, grounded on learner-centric, inquiry and experiential learning approaches, deepen your understanding of the Malay community in Singapore through exploration of the Geylang Serai Heritage Gallery and the Geylang Serai Market.

Participants will get to discover the rich history as well as the significance of the area to the Malay Muslim community. Through hands-on activities, objects and images, students will learn about games from the yesteryear, the unique offerings of Geylang Serai Market as well as the special occasions celebrated by the community.

Each participant will also receive a complimentary Musuem-based Learning activity booklet as you explore the gallery and precinct area with our Museum Educators.

Sights and Sounds of Little India
Venue: Indian Heritage Centre
Time: 9.30am – 12.00pm
Getting There: Transportation will not be provided. Accessible by MRT, Little India Station (Exit E)

Have you wondered about the Indian culture and the Indian community’s contributions to the development of Singapore? Follow two Indian classical dancers as they share stories about the diverse Indian community in Singapore and their contributions to Singapore’s nation-building efforts.

In groups facilitated by Museum Educators, grounded on learner-centric, inquiry and experiential learning approaches, deepen your understanding of the diverse Indian community in Singapore through stories of the artefacts found in the Indian Heritage Centre. Thereafter, take in the sights and sounds of Little India by exploring and discovering the rich heritage and historical value of Little India. Share and connect your discoveries together with fellow participants to uncover the Indian culture and heritage through its performing arts.
